1. How does Rowing in Motion work? Do I need external sensor hardware?

Rowing in Motion does not require any external sensor hardware. All required sensors are built-in on the supported devices (GPS is an exception, see below). Rowing in Motion captures the acceleration on your boat using an acceleration sensor (accelerometer). Boat acceleration is directly proportional to the sum of all forces applied to your boat. Rowing in Motion employs advanced algorithms to filter and process this raw sensor data to measure 3D-acceleration, stoke rate, speed and distance.

  2. What devices does Rowing in Motion support?

See supported hardware for the Boat App and supported hardware for the Coach App

  3. Can I use the Coach App in the Boat? Do I need to buy both Apps to use Coach features?

Yes, you’ll need to buy both Apps. The Coach App can only receive sensor data from a remote Boat App and is not able to use local sensor data.

  1. Will Rowing in Motion become available for Android or Windows Phone?

Maybe a Boat App for Android. A detailed explanation of the matter can be found on our blog.

  2. Can I record and analyze my Training Sessions?

Yes, you can Rowing in Motion Analytics to analyze your data recorded with the Boat or Coach App.

  3. Does Rowing in Motion require callibration?

Rowing in Motion does not need any manual callibration. It will callibrate automatically when it is started. To ensure this automatic callibration gives accurate results, start the App on the water with the boat balanced.

  4. How can I attach the Device to my boat?

See Mounting and Waterproof Cases instructions.

  5. How do I establish a connection between the Boat and the Coach App?

See Connecting to a Boat App.

  6. Do the Apps support the iPhone 5

Yes, the iPhone 5 is supported but we currently can’t offer a version of the App that uses the new screen layout of the iPhone 5. This is due to technical limitations imposed by Apple as we’d be forced to drop support for the iPhone 3G in order to provide a version optimized for the iPhone 5.  If you want support for your iPhone 5, go vote for it and we’ll reconsider this.
